Meet Scovia!

Scovia is currently in our PSTP, but before that, she was a secondary scholar! Our Development and Comms Manager, Jacquelyn, sat down with her to learn more about what it was like transitioning from a day school to boarding school at FAWE, what she has been up to since graduating from secondary school, and what her plans are for the future!

Introducing Olivia, our newest team member joining Komera! Olivia joined Komera as a scholar in 2014 and, after finishing her undergraduate degree, will be joining us as the ICT Officer. She’ll be working with our PSTP students on their computer and English skills. She is most excited to start working with the scholars to show them what their futures after Komera can look like!

Introducing Jackson, our newest team member joining Komera! Jackson will be joining us as Komera’s Business Development Manager supporting new and existing business ventures through the Komera Leadership Center. He is most excited to start working with both the Teen Mothers and Parent and Guardian Cooperatives!

Guest Author: Jordan Ashley, of Souljourn Yoga, shares about her relationship with Komera her experience teaching yoga teacher training to some of our Komera Team Members, and the new partnership between Souljourn Yoga, Komera, and Corc Yoga.

We’re so excited to introduce you all to Angie, our newest team member joining Komera! As our newest Communications Intern, Angie will be supporting our team in sharing about the work Komera is doing and stories from the field. It’s her goal one day to start her own non-profit in Ecuador that would focus on rural education equity.

Komera caught up with several of our scholar a year later after they graduated from university in 2021. They shared their stories about graduation and how they have dealt with the uncertainty of entering the workforce during a pandemic.

We’re so excited to introduce you all to Nicole, our newest team member joining us from Rwanda! As our newest Fellow, Nicole will be supporting our team both here and in Rwanda, as well as learning about the work Komera does to support the girls and their families in our Rwinkwavu community.

This past Fall Komera had the opportunity to connect with Roar Training’s Julie Morrill and Becca Tolkoff for a six week virtual self-defense training. We are so thrilled and thankful for this opportunity to partner up. Here is their story!
