His passion for storytelling is is great and we’re excited to have him on the team!
How did you first hear about Komera?
I first heard about Komera through Margaret Butler, who I met in 2023. I was motivated by Komera’s vision, and I absolutely love everything the community supports. I’m constantly finding new ways to learn, and I was really uplifted by everything I researched about Komera.
What made you want to join Komera?
I wanted to join Komera because I was really inspired by their mission. Upon discovering Komera, I immediately wanted to know more. And, I think that desire goes hand in hand with social media. I’ve always had a passion for storytelling, and the work that Komera does on a daily basis is something that I’m constantly excited to share with the world.
What projects are you most excited to dive into and support the team with?
I currently run Komera’s social media pages, and I love coming up with new ideas for outreach. Komera’s community is so strong and supportive. The love and admiration for Komera’s mission is so present throughout the responses from supporters across social media. I’m excited to be able to introduce new kinds of content to Komera. I love producing short-form videos, and I cannot wait to edit interviews and b-roll into Reels to showcase the inspiring work that Komera does.
What is your favorite part of the Komera program or mission that inspires you?
One thing about Komera that inspires me is their focus on education and empowering young women. My mom was a GED teacher, and I got to witness first hand how important it was for people to receive their high school diplomas, whether they were 18 or 88 years old. Through sponsoring scholars, Komera is able to foster an incredible school environment, while building a community of amazing people.
A big piece of Komera’s mission is female empowerment through sport and health wellness. What is your personal favorite way to sweat and how do you practice self-care?
I grew up performing, so one of my favorite ways to work out is through dance. Whether it be line dancing or taking lessons when I can, I think it’s such a fun way to stay active. I also love going for a run while listening to a new album. There’s something really special about listening to a song for the first time, and I find it incredibly calming. I practice self-care by drinking plenty of water, walking my roommate’s dog, and going to therapy.
What is a fun, unique or weird fact about you?
One interesting thing about me is my love for solving puzzles and Rubik’s cubes. I find it an incredible way to decompress at the end of the day, and it is a hobby that allows for me to be completely present.
Inspirational quote or mantra you live by?
It’s a simple quote in essence, and it’s from Monty Python’s Life of Brian, “Always look on the bright side of life.”
