Welcome Jackson!

Introducing Jackson, our newest team member joining Komera! Jackson will be joining us as Komera’s Business Development Manager supporting new and existing business ventures through the Komera Leadership Center. He is most excited to start working with both the Teen Mothers and Parent and Guardian Cooperatives!

Tell us about yourself!

I am a graduate student with a Bachelor degree of Business Administration obtained in 2012 from the School of Finance and Banking (SFB) with a major in Finance. I am 34 years old and a father of two lovely boys and one daughter.

I have 10 years of experience working with Private and International Nonprofit Organizations such as Teach A Man To Fish, Health Poverty Action (HPA) and SNV Rwanda. My experience and expertise lies in the sector of supporting the community attaining their self-sufficiency. I have spent my years supporting projects aimed at community empowerment and livelihood enhancement. My level of participation and engagement on different projects expanded my skills in project planning, management, implementation, facilitation, coaching, monitoring and evaluation. Most of the projects I worked on were mainly supporting business people in business planning and management, youth and women empowerment, water and sanitation. I also worked on promoting girls’ education by supporting schools in establishing school businesses with objectives of generating income to support the poorest girls. I also worked on equipping girls’ changing rooms and purchasing school materials, notebooks, pens, and shoes. I am passionate about a society free of dependence where every individual enjoys the fullness of basic rights, access to foods, and shelter.

What brought you to Komera?

Coming to Komera has been a dream come true as I am very passionate about the programs which develop the community, and the education program which develops human capital. I also liked the idea that Komera aims to sustain some of its program by establishing business. Joining the movement at this very first time is my pleasure to work in hand with the management team to create wealth, and self-generated income to help finance programs to some extent in the long run.

What projects are you most excited to dive into and support the team with?

I am excited to join a mission that resembles my passion. I am passionate about growing and empowering society, specifically women as in our culture it says “educating a woman is to educate the family”. By supporting empowerment, I am positive and ready to fight together with the Komera team along with the programs that are being run. I am also very keen to work closely with the management to empower women economically. The most exciting project that I would like to support is the Teen Mother program and the Parent and Guardian Cooperative. Working with the Cooperative fosters my past experience of working with savings groups and victims of Gender Based Violence through providing socio-economic and psychological support.

What is your favorite part of the Komera program or mission that inspires you?

My inspiration and favorite part of Komera’s program and mission is enriching the potential of the most disadvantaged women and girls. I want to expand the capacities of families as well as young poor girls enrolled in schools to learn leadership skills and gain confidence to create their own future.”

Inspirational quote or mantra you live by:

“Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope.” - Martin Luther King.

Fun, unique or weird fact about yourself:

I love listening to music and really like sharing my music interests with my colleagues.

Anything else to share?

I am grateful to join Komera and be apart of the team. Thank you for having confidence in me and my commitment to contribute to the organization’s mission and goals day to day.
