Komera sponsors scholars with full room, board and tuition at a public boarding school in Rwanda. During school holidays, scholars recieve training on becoming an agents of social change and leaders within their communities. Learn More


Komera builds a local community of support for the scholars. At school, a scholar meets with her Komera mentor and fellow scholars once a week. At home, her parents work with the Komera Parent Co-operative. They receive training on how to launch small businesses to help support their families and provide modest school materials for the scholars.  Learn More


Komera is unique because of its emphasis on empowerment through sport. We annualy host the Komera Global Run in June. Additionally, scholars are encouraged to exercise outdoors in the mornings at conferences. We believe in positive body image through sport. Learn More.

Our Impact

Komera started working with 10 young Rwandan women in 2008. We have graduated 17 women from our programs and currently have a class of 70 Komera Scholars in public upper secondary boarding schools around Rwanda.
